A whole summer has passed since the last entry. At what point should I begin? Life has taken on a comforting rythm of routine. Lot of happenings are wonderfully mundane. The daily cooking and cleaning, picking up after the kids (young men but kids all the same), keeping the shelves stocked and ofcourse paying the bills. The season, however, has dotted the days with many important memories. Let me begin from present time and go backwards.
Papaji, my dad, is visiting us for couple of months. He is 84 years old and was unsure of being able to make the journey to USA. The prospect of meeting his great grand daughter overcame all doubts and here he is, making Surina's acquaintance. The first meeting was very interesting.
Then gave him many smiles when he handed her a 100 dollor note. We immortalised the moment with many pictures and video. He never got his note back though. She has decided she likes Papaji.
We celebrated Rakhi on August 20 as that is the day everyone could get together. This was Surina's first Rakhi and very special to us. We gave her a gold karha (bangle) and Papaji gave her a gold chain. She loved her colorful Rakhis that we tied on her.
Jyoti tied Baba's sister's Rakhis on him and got some dollors as gifts.
She tied Papaji's sisters Rakhis on him too but I maroed the dollor's this time.
Here Suraj and Ravi are showcasing their Rakhis. They gave sentimental Hallmark cards to Jyoti and Jeff on this occasion as gifts from the heart. Some day when they have real jobs they will add gifts from the pocket too.
Since Jyoti and Jeff already have real jobs they gave gifts, and hugs and kisses to the macho boys.
This is Ravi tying Bablee's Rakhi on me. I feel blessed to have a sister like Bablee.
