HE IS HOME

Homecoming has been somewhat like a chapter out of Rabindranath Tagore's novels. I had visualised jubilant, triumphant, celebratory entry back into our familiar way of life. Pneumonia was not in the plot; neither was Saint Elizabeth. Sachi, however, gracefully accepted them and made the best of the script. Today at 4:30 PM he was discharged from the hospital and we drove home. He slept through the whole way. On arriving he walked through the kitchen and the family room for a few minutes and then changed into lungi and shirt. I waited on the sofa for a little CNN news but he headed for the bed. He has been sleeping since then. Two family friends came from Omaha to wish him well and brought some food. He missed them but I will relay the message when he wakes up.
Sachi has been rather groggy the whole day today. First we thought it must be a medicine he took in the morning but now I think it is just the weakness and the tiredness. I have to wake him up soon for the tube feed. He is happy to be in his own bed. The picture above was taken in the hotel in the waning light of the evening sun. I exaggerated the effect through photoshop. It reminds me of Vivekanand. I hope you like it as much as I like it.
Till next time . . . . . Ambi

Dearest Sati Mamu & Ambi Main,

Pranam.Main..Thanks for your beautiful and detailed update and the beautiful picture of Sati Mamu..he sure does look so much like Swami Vivekanand..in that evening sunlight and ofcourse from the special effects of the photoshop to give it that halo effect..he truly is the enlightened one of the Mahapatra family..both spiritually and physically (looks wise).

Sati Mamu..We both are so happy to know that you are back home after your short stay at Saint Elizabeth..was glad and relieved to hear from Mamma that your Bronchoscopy on Monday went well and that there is no obstruction in the lungs..she said you sounded much better and strong too..will try and call you up this weekend if you are feeling upto it..would love to hear your voice again after 7weeks..Now that you are back home and in your own cosy bed..rest as much as you can and with the PEG tube feeds and all the rest you would soon be feeling strong and energetic..back on your feet in on time.

Wish you, Main and the kids are very happy homecoming and a very cheerful spring and summer 2008.

Take care and Get well soon.
Love always,
Leema & Achintya.

Ah! The exquisite pleasures of photo shop....with a little more ingenuity, the saffron turban would have also appeared on top, completing the perfect face of the firebrand Swami who preached and practised the highest form of Practical Vendanta, who believed so intensely in action as to declare boldly that a game of football would take you closer to God than reading and reciting the Gita every day, who created history by opening his legendary speech at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893 by drawing the attention of monks and priests from every religion to the fact that Hinduism not only embraced all religions with universal tolerance, but it also believed that each one of them was true....Swami Vivekananda
Like the ancient Vedas say: “Ekam Sat, Vipra Bahuda Vadanti” Truth is one. Sages call it by different names....
Life serves every event on a plate of unpredictability....hence the quiet return of the Victor. The jubilation is experienced in the dancing heart of every caring soul to see him back within the walls of his abode. The gratitude of one and all who participated in the journey, in person or vicariously, flows out to Him for His perennial shade of blessings that made the transition from disease to recovery possible without any major event or emergency...
The glow that surrounds your face is filled with the unmistakable radiance of spirituality. Hoping to imbibe a few drops of your enriched Soul, we are held mesmerized by the magnetism exuded by your loving presence.
May God open further doors of perception to fathom His eternal mysteries....
Love & Pranams
Babi
