Are you having fun Mommy and Daddy in Hawaii.
Don't miss me too much.
I am at home with Biji and Aja.

It just seems like yesterday that the little daughter of Sun alighted in our midst. From those heavy half closed eyelids and shrill cries… to the wide open eyes of wonder and strengthening limbs of support …from those supple bundles of flesh and bone to the firm definition of hands, feet and all that lies between…from those hours of sleeping, awaking, eating and sleeping some more…to the endless pranks of infancy and playful pains of growing up….Surina has indeed come a long way from her first day on this planet. Just a few weeks shy of her first anniversary, she looks wonderfully prepared to welcome the upcoming years and the expected shower of gifts galore. A miracle of creation, every child represents yet another giant leap of Life. From the first moment of birth onwards, as days, months and years elapse the single breath that begins the story of life, expands from the confines of a single family and house to embrace the entire global family in all its variety and splendor. Blessed with the highest quality of birth, life when clothed by the human attire adorns a beauty that is like no other, reflecting an eternal effort to rise above and beyond in its journey across countless births to mingle with the Infinite. That is why a child, reminiscing its memories of earlier births, smiles while in slumber, to the astonishment of onlookers…
Surina, a blessed soul, in the company of three preceding generations, is fortunate indeed to have the combined vibrations of love from parents to grand parents to great grand parents…. The positive energy exuded by the members of each generation is a shade of blessing that maybe invisible to the naked eye but is invincible to the beneficiary and palpable only to those with spiritual vision.
While offering my heartfelt pranams to all elders with a special touch of love at the fatherly feet of Uncle, I would appeal to the eldest and most enlightened Soul, Uncle, to share his wisdom on this blog, elevating its status from a forum of opinions to a seat of learning.
Love and God bless little Surina and all her pampering elders…

Dear Surina
Dear Ambi
Dear Subhash

My recent visit to Lincoln was in the manner of a pilgrimage to the new-born star Surina. .Despite colorful albums showing her myriad moods supplied by Ambi, the appetite for a sight of flesh and blood remains insatiated. No words can more effectively unravel this dilemma than the opening lines of one of the most famous ‘gazal’ of - poet of the East – Dr. Mohd. Iqbal:-
“Kabhi aye haqiqat’ muntezir nazar au libas’ majaz mein.
Keh hazoron sajday tarhap rahay hain meri jabeene’ niaz mein

Tarab ashnai khrosh ho tu nawa hai mehrame gosh ho
Woh sarod kaya ke chhupa hua ho sakute parda’ saaz mein”

(O’ much-awaited reality for once manifest thyself in earthly presence
As thousands bows on my brow are throbbing for thy reverent obeisance

The celebration should be loud and clear; as voice thou should ring in the ear
What music is it that’s hidden in crafted screens to be stillness mere)”

Contd.

Then came the time for ‘much-awaited reality’ in the words of an equally great urdu poet Mirza Galib:-

“ Shubh hui phir anjmay rakhshanda ka manzar khula
Is takallaf se keh goya butkaday ka dark hula”

(Appeared then a star-studded full moon night
Like opening of a temple door displaying deity’s sight)

As I took Surina in my arms, I felt overwhelmed with a cloud of star light. A crisp hundred dollars – my first offering – she held in her palm graciously with a mona liza smile. Then we fascinatingly watched her run-raids of the house on a walker or on all fours. Again in the words of Galib:-

.. “ Jahan tera naqshay kadam thekhtay hain
Khayaban khayaban arm thekhtay hain”

( The earth to which marks of thy feet cling
Thereupon the gardens of paradise spring)

Bhai Gurdas an eminent Punjabi poet has expressed similar feelings about Guru Nanak:-

“ Jithay Baba pair dharay – Puja aasan thapan sua”

( The place where Baba put his feet – turned instantly into a pilgrim seat)

May this be a small offering on dear Surina’s birthday anniversary.from her great grandpa.

Traversing the length of Uncle's message was like listening to a melody of divine import.....
Words intertwined with warmth...Rhythm infused with radiance... Beauty pregnant with meaning...Exquisite and elevating indeed..
Like I said, this podium has now been truly transformed to a seat of learning and wisdom. Surina inherits a rich legacy of knowledge culture and philosophy.
Let the gravitational flow of wisdom from elders to youngsters, from the wise to the learners, from the enlightened to the seekers continue...
With our hearts pounding in silent applause we await the next droplet of excellence to appear and take us to still greater heights of euphoria....
Pranams
