CHANGE. Take it in stride.

We want to share our changing weather with all of you who do not live in Nebraska. The two pictures were taken barely one hour apart. The first one was taken very close to our home. The second one was taken in Norfolk Nebraska, about one and a half our from us. Lincoln had the same weather system; a photographer happened to catch the moment in Norfolk. His picture of the storm appeared in our Newspaper the next day. He e-mailed the picture to me on request.
Sachi and I were driving to Omaha for one of
our rare social gatherings in a long time. A close friend's daughter was getting married. I took the picture just before we started. We had not yet left the town when the weather turned ugly; as we seemed to be driving away from it we did not think much of it. Half an hour later we got an urgent call from Ravi who informed us that Lincoln had turned jet black suddenly. He was driving home from a friend's house. We breathed easier when he reached home. Suraj was already home. Both of them spent time in basement till the siren announced safe conditions. By the time we returned, it was not even raining. We have a saying in Nebraska: "If you do not like the weather, do'nt worry. It will change soon".
We are glad that our life no more mirrors the weather outside. Sachi is steadily improving. He has started eating enough to replace one time's feed completely. His stamina is much better. He is able to go out for short periods by himself. He is driving now. The day goes by without those long naps. Suraj and Ravi have relaxed enough to need occasional reminders of home rules. They are enjoying the summer whether the weather is good or not. We are looking forward to Babi, Bandana mousi, mousa, Mita, Bobby, Naren and Vivek visiting us next week. There is no medicine like family.
If everything goes OK Sachi is hoping to go back to work for a couple of hours in two weeks. He retires this October. We are beginning to discuss life after retirement. He wants to keep working for some time with easier schedule. Need time to spoil the grandchild!!!
With lot of love and regards......Ambi.

Dear Ambi,
We are very happy to note steady progress in Sachi's condition. It is highly encouraging that he has increased food intake, much of it by mouth also. His growing love for work and participation in social gatherings are sign posts of fast recovery. Hearty congratulations to Sachi. Double one for his favorite candidate having won the race.He should now get well soon to join the festivities after the formal nomination by democrats. Thanks Ambi for the vivid weather snaps -one depicting tranquility of nature and the other its immense fury. With love and best wishes from Biji, Babli and Papa(ji)

Dearest Sanabhai&Nuabou,
Pranam-
CHANGE-Take it in stride- the title of your Blog is so appropriate and true-Really Change is the essence of life and everyone should take it in his or her stride. In other words- we don`t know what is going to happen in the next moment, next hour or next day-so why worry? It`s better to accept His Will as it comes.Looking at both the pictures, can anyone imagine the peace and tranquility of a bright sunny day will suddenly and unexpectedly change into the dangerous fury of a storm whole city dark and it`s people scared? But that is Nature-we are glad everyone was safe.
The picture of the storm is quite disturbing. It mirrors the turmoil and anxiety through which all of us were passing through about six weeks back-Thank God it is over. Now everyone`s mood is bright and full of hope like the first picture,We are so happy to know about Sanabhai`s progress, his socialising, increasing food intake, participating in most activities-all are very welcome signs. It is apparent his stamina and strength are coming back.By the grace of God,we are sure, after two weeks the efficient and caring doctor will be back with his patients at the NHI.Again he will be at the giving end of the treatment curing ailments. We hope and pray that the Lion will be more peaceful in his Den.
Sanabhai,Nuabou-Next week you are going to play big host and hostess to so many guests-(family members)So you will have fun and enjoy their company.Hope you all will have a great time togrther.Nuabou1 you may have started cooking overtime (specially at night undisturbed).
OK-Sanabhai wish you speedy recovery.Nuabou-happy entertaining.
God bless you all and be with you always.
With love & regards-

Hello, Mahapatra family! I got a link to your blog from my brother, who still works at NHI. I was very sad to hear you were ill but am so encouraged by your progress. I know (personally) that it's so very hard for a person when the body is sick while the mind is well and wants to be as active as before. You look as handsome (and well-dressed!) as usual, and it makes me so happy to know you are doing better. Thanks so much for sharing with all of us. I always enjoyed working for you.

Sincerely,
Dori Rodriguez
