The Other Side Of The Tunnel

A sunny day is a welcome respite after snow and rain. Combine this with mothers day celebration and you have a lasting memory. This picture was taken just before we drove off to 'Venue', an upscale restuarant in Lincoln that the kids think is cool. Sachi found the seafood bisque and grilled Salmon appetising enough to slowly wash it down with iced tea. It was truly a heart warming dinner. We came home with great hopes and planned on many more such meal times. But alas! the road to success is two steps forward and one step back. Next day Sachi tried some rice and chicken and got sick to his stomach. So we are taking it a little easy now. Our goal at present is for him to replace one can of Nutren with oral intake. He succeeded at that today.

Ravi is going through his final exam week. Now that he has discovered the cause and effect relationship between studying and good grades we worry about him a little less. He has been studing hard and seems satisfied with his performance till now. This friday he moves back home for the summer and we are looking forward to again being able to kiss him good night (against all his protests). Suraj and Ravi's answer to my night time love you is, 'Ya Ya'. Their confidence in our love always brings smile to my face (parents are such suckers). Suraj has one more month to go before he gets off for summer.

Jyoti and Jeff are busy this week and we will see them over the weekend again. Jyoti is doing all right. It was wonderful to get all your congratulations. Sachi and I have been looking at the kids' baby pictures and imagining our home full of toys again. Future is a wonderful thing to have.

As Sachi gets better we are looking forward to seeing all of you. . . . . Ambi.

A feast for the eyes. The full family filling the picture in all its glory and spirit...
Colors brimming with life have painted the atmosphere with a freshness that is infectious! Faces exuding the promise of love and the hope for a beautiful tomorrow seem to infuse the onlooker with a pervading sense of optimism.....Composed with a masterful stroke, the picture embraces nature and humanity at their elevating best....
A tree....That is what we should all strive towards being....Hidden in a tiny seed is the huge tree of coming years. Like a mother it spreads its wings of branches clothed with leaves and fruits creating a shade under which every weary traveler finds relief.... People might throw stones at it, but never does it retaliate...Instead, it sheds fruits on them to satisfy their hunger for hunting and greed for possessing. Its whole life is a story of magnanimity, always giving, forever bearing to deliver fruits of health, continuously rejuvenating itself to provide shelter to those who seek refuge from the heat of life....A lesson in silent humility as it bows down with every inch of growth upwards... A mystifying study of truth slumbering in a seed waiting to unfold in a magical manifestation of creation.
Together as you all stand, mingling with the background of God's marvelous canvas, you reflect a presence, in and around you, of the spirit of Man's eternal struggle for excellence.
As the little seed grows in the midst of love and care, and slowly commences its journey towards a new frontier of life, here is wishing the eagerly awaited first born of the next generation: All the Very Best!
Love and Prayers

In one part of the world people are bending backwards and turning back the clock endeavoring to rescue their fellow beings from the claws of death cursed on thousands by a deadly earthquake....
While in another part, not too far away, the authorities, luxuriating under a blanket of xenophobic paranoia, are stacking every conceivable obstacle in the way of rendering lifesaving help to the countless dead and the dying as a consequence of yet another natural disaster....
As if this sharp contrast between human excellence and inhuman megalomania was not enough, in most of the remaining places it is a tragic story of humans killing their own kin in a mindless orgy of violence, living and dying under the mistaken notion that such a way of life would lead to salvation.......
Reading the daily newspaper or watching the news on any channel has become a journey in misery. Precious human lives have been reduced to a nameless number, increasing at an alarming rate by every passing second.....When do we witness the birth of another Jesus, how long do we have to wait for Buddha to grace our planet again, will Allah not forgive His misled millions and steer them back on to the path of peace? Waiting for any of these Divine Incarnations to make a miraculous appearance to heal the wounds of our bleeding world may take an eternity. Carrying His divine spark in us, each one is an incarnation and has the potential of transforming into a realized Soul through a Life of love, service and sacrifice. Reforming the world is essentially an individual process. Awaiting corrections on a global scale is an exercise in futility. It is in our own small peculiar ways that we can initiate the ripple of change that, with our brotherhood of millions joining in, will snowball into a gigantic wave of human goodness, spreading across the planet like a balm of compassionate co-existence....
All it requires of us is an act of kindness, a look of concern, a gesture of love and an embrace of acceptance directed at every brother we encounter while traversing the path of daily living....
“Be the change you want to see.....”
Pranams & Prayers.

Dear SachiAmbi

Greetings from the Nicholson household. I have never written on a blog before so I hope I am doing this right. I suppose I should consult with my teenagers/young adults to see if I need refining in this new world of "blogging". Cindy really enjoyed visiting if Ambi the other day. We wanted to let you know that we think and pray for you all often. I found some verses that have brought us a lot of comfort through life's trials that I would like to share with you. "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the quiet waters. He restores my soul: He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.
Even though I walk through through the shadow of the valley of death,
I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of house of the LORD forever."

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Yours sincerely, Dave Nicholson.
PS Cindy says hello. Her father had a fall and is recovering. She will write soon.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS Jyoti & Jeff (and to the entire family!)!! This is absolutely the best news we have all had for a long time. And it is so exciting. I hope you are feeling better, Jyoti. I bet Jeff makes sure of that. Have you started thinking of baby names yet? Are you going to find out if it's a boy or a girl? Or would you rather be surprised? This is really wonderful. Your baby is so lucky to have both of you as her / his parents. You guys will be terrific parents.

I can totally vouch for what Khudi mentioned about grandchildren being dearer than children. It is so wonderful to see your baby and your parents develop this utterly beautiful relationship! The best part of it, of course, is the way the baby has the grandparents dance to his / her tune!!

All the very best. Take good care of yourself and the baby and enjoy every minute of it. There's no other experience quite like this one!

Luv,
Pinky apa & Sushmit bhai

Pranam to Sana bhai and Nuabou.

Dear brother, how are you? I have not talked to you for some time. Of course I get all the news from Sini and Apa. But it is not just the news I care for, but also your voice I want to hear and the feelings hidden underneath. You may camouflage your pain and suffering but we are your own flesh and blood and can easily see through it.
Let us not talk about that now. You are on the glorious path to recovery and health. Although the progress may be slow, it is sure and on the right track .As the medicines become less and less your pain-free periods will increase and very soon you will be totally healed and disease-free. From the quality of your voice we can assess that your pain and difficulty is much less than before but not quite normal yet.
Your weight has increased some but has paused for the time being. According to Nuabou’s older blog the stage of rapid progress is about now .We are eager to know if that has started yet. You are not getting exhausted as easily as before, but has your strength come back some, my dear Tarzan? You need all your strength and energy when your grandchild comes.
As far as your mind is concerned I am not very much concerned. I think none of your siblings can match your psychic resilience and patience .It is by the power and the will of the Almighty that you are able to accept and endure this terrible ordeal. We cannot believe our eyes and ears when we read and hear about your mind blowing experiences of your battle with this life threatening disease .It is with awe that we listen to your calm and casual voice describing them .My hats off to you my dear Tarzan .God has prepared you well to face your fate and has made you so strong physically, mentally and spiritually that all of us are inspired .It is your deep faith in God, so recently acquired, that has made you literally a rock for others to anchor on to.
Here is wishing you a very happy, healthy and exciting tomorrow. May the new addition to your family bring you luck and longevity. That he or she will be the apple of your eye there is no doubt. As you are the jewel in the crown of our family may he or she be the jewel in the crown of your and Jeff’s family. Waiting eagerly to meet you. Your loving brother and sister in law,
Subu and Sudha.

Daer Jyoti and Jeff,
CONGRATULATIONS. There could not have been a better time to announce the expected arrival of the new one. Your Dad is overjoyed, as are all of us, and he will recover faster and more completely. Now there is an ugency about his health and strength that cannot but be a blessing of the Almighty God. Providence has planned the birth of your child and your Dad’s second life to coincide in such a way that both of them are literally being fed through a tube as “Daddy” has so appropriately said.
Therefore all the fun and celebrations are doubled, your luck and future happiness are doubled and may the lives of your child and your Dad be doubled. With the best of luck, health and prosperity, we hope you have a long, fulfilling and peaceful life ahead .May God be as graceful and generous with you as He has been with your Dad. With blessings, your loving,
Sudha dada and Subu khudi.

Ambi,

We were out for a few days. We missed the blog as we did not have access to internet. Good to know that you guys had a happy mother's day and Sachi is slowly getting back to normal eating. Nice picture of the whole family. Pretty soon you will have a little one bringing more joy to the family.

Grand kids are fun. You are right; you will have toys all over the house again. We have toys for Arjun, Jia and Parth in our house. When they come, first thing they want to do is go to basement and bring the toys upstairs.
